The Great Pumpkin Smoothie

small pie pumpkin I consider myself somewhat challenged in the culinary arts.  I would like to be a good cook and a gracious hostess, but my talents don’t seem to run in that direction.  Nevertheless, occasionally I get lucky, and it has happened again today.  A culinary home-run.

I’m trying to break a sugar addiction and today the craving has a wicked grip on me.  (Blame the sumptuous pumpkin muffins I see at my favorite coffee shop every morning.)  I need an antidote, and fast.

So in the spirit of the day, I scoured my cabinets for something I could concoct to soothe my sweet tooth.  And oh boy, did I ever create a masterpiece, and I want to share this treat with all you goblins out there.  It’s sure to become LifeArt Studio’s signature drink:  the Pumpkin Smoothie.  Here’s the recipe.

1/2 cup almond milk (or coconut milk)
1/2 cup of egg whites
1 frozen banana
1/4 cup of canned pumpkin
1/4 teaspoon of pumpkin spice
two dates
1 scoop protein powder (I use Dr. Sara Gottfried’s Hormone Balance Supplement)

Blend like crazy, and enjoy!
