Are you game for some unusual creativity hacks?
If the answer is yes, please join us on Thursday, September 18, from 6:45-9:00 p.m., when therapist Heidi Behr will talk about EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), also known as “Tapping.” A Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Addictions Professional, Heidi is a counselor, coach, and workshop leader, working with clients to heal anxiety or revive relationships. You can learn more about Heidi at her website, FeelPeaceNow.com.
What is Tapping?
Tapping draws on various theories of alternative medicine including acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming, energy medicine, and Thought Field Therapy (TFT). Simple and non-invasive, EFT Tapping is a form of energy psychology that entails gently “tapping” on key meridian points of the head and hands. When combined with cognitive re-directing, it can relieve physical and emotional pain and stress, as well as transform negative belief systems and subconscious programming. The technique garners dramatic results for some people, bringing about greater health, happiness, peace, and freedom.
Heidi uses this to help clients soothe the trigger-happy “fight or flight” part of the brain called the amygdala. Responding to stress, our brain gets stuck in “overdrive,” which doesn’t feel good. EFT Tapping can reduce physiological stress responses and activate relaxation responses thereby allowing the body to do what it does best—heal itself.
So how does Tapping apply to creativity?
Research in creativity shows that we tap into our creative potential most readily when we are in a state of relaxation. Tapping creates the fertile conditions allowing a practitioner’s unique and innate creative potential to express itself in powerful ways. And that’s when we can really go to work on crafting the lifestyle and the habits of mind that will allow us to truly enjoy our creative energy, producing the art we were born to create.
If this sounds intriguing to you, please join this LifeArt Studio event for a fascinating session led by Heidi Behr, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Addictions Professional.
There is no charge to attend a Creative Momentum Gathering, but seating is limited. To reserve your space in this session on Tapping (Thursday, September 18, 6:45-9:00 p.m.), send me an email at email@example.com. I’ll respond to confirm your reservation, and share the details on where we’ll be gathering.
I hope you’ll join me, Heidi, and a small group of creatives who have made a commitment to nourishing the creative spirits. You’ll be so, so happy you did.
